176 The Matrix Resurrected

26 September 2021
Recently it the Matrix 4 was announced. I watched the original Matrix trilogy many times over the years so of course I'd be interested in what Matrix 4 would be like. The original trilogy ended in a tone of finality and I was surprised that there would even be another Matrix movie.
After watching the trailer for the Matrix 4, I'll admit I was a both a little confused and less hyped. Luckily the Film Theorists made a video with some interesting theories (that I hope turn out true,) which made me more excited for the movie again.
For this painting I wanted to continue practising perspective so I picked a scene from the trailer that I thought would let me do that. I liked this scene because it blended the signature green lines of code with a fairly normal looking environment.
When I was painting the buildings on the right side of the painting, I remember looking at the time and thinking "how am I going to finish this whole painting in anywhere close to the 45 minute time limit?" I think I had spent about 15 minutes by then and was struggling with just the first building.
Luckily, I perserved and things were a lot smoother after the first building. I managed to finish in roughly 45 minutes and quite liked how this painting turned out. After the first building I think I got into the swing of things and tried to keep the other elements of the scene as simple as possible.
