TENNYSON PAINTS

Recently I completed the first 3 seasons of Stranger Things. I enjoyed the show thoroughly and liked the Dungeons and Dragons analogies. Eleven's psychic abilties reminded me of Sara Kerrigan from Starcraft a little bit.

I wanted to paint a version of Eleven where her psychic powers were much stronger, so I created an adult version of her based on Sara Kerrigan's design in Starcraft 2. Eleven's power armour in this scene is inspired by Sara's armour when she's not full Zerg.

The scenes in the Upside Down with the giant monster looming in the distance gave me the feeling of overwhelming power and dread. Here I wanted to turn that upside down. Instead of an overwhelmingly powerful monster that we dread, here it is Eleven who has power overwhelming, and it is Eleven the monster dreads.

I wanted to paint the monster exploding from Eleven's psyonic powers, but was not able to portray that without losing the recognisable shape of the monster. So, to ensure the monter remained easily identifiable, I had Elven tear it apart in a spiral pattern instead.
