The YouTube algorithm served me up an old video by award winning artist, Bobby Chiu.  It was a short video about the 1 percent door, the door the most successful people go through every day. 

The 1 percent door is a lot less appealing than the 99 percent door, and I wanted to capture that sentiment with a run down scene. So I made the door look quite ordinary and humble.

Going through the 1 percent door every day is also very challenging, which is why I set the scene in an abandoned jungle temple setting and added a monster in front of the door. This was meant to give the scene a bit of a Dark Souls feel.

Overall I'm quite happy with the outcome of this 45 minute painting session. I think I captured the key parts of the story I wanted to tell. The focus of the painting is on the door, and the scene hopefully reads as a jungle temple setting with a monster blocking the path.
